Why isn’t this website prettier?

  • People who use this website may be struggling financially.

  • If they are using their cell phones to look at this site, having many images on this website might use up their cell phone data.

  • If they have slow internet connection, many images might cause pages to load slowly on their cell phone.

  • A case manager at a nonprofit might use an old computer to look at this website, and the computer might load slowly.

  • An employee at a nonprofit might want to print a page of this website, and give the paper to a client. Lots of images can use up a lot of ink.

  • Lisa has limited time. She could either create

    Option A:
    pretty website
    lots of pictures
    few resources

    Option B:
    simple website
    few pictures
    lots of resources

    Lisa chose option B.

  • So… simple site, uses less data, loads pages faster, prints pages with less ink, lots and lots of resources.

What inspired Lisa to take on this project?

Back in 2024, Lisa was at a Community Advisory Council meeting at Community Bridges (CBI) Globe. Different people spoke about how they needed help and support at their jobs. A sheriff’s deputy (T.H.) asked if anyone had an up-to-date community resource list. No one did. Everyone at the table agreed that a comprehensive resource list was badly needed, but no one had one. That conversation planted the seeds in Lisa’s mind.

In 2025, Lisa was in a Thrive Together meeting sponsored by Clarvida. Amna, the program manager, said many people have asked her for an up-to-date community resource list. Since no one had time to work on the project, creating a community resource list was put on the back burner. The seeds were in the process of germinating.

In Jan 2026, Lisa decided to take action. Lisa paid for the URL ‘Globe Miami Community Resources dot org.’ Lisa also paid Squarespace to host the website. Lisa created the website herself, from scratch.
